7 Tips For Designing The Perfect Bathroom

June 19, 2019

It goes without saying building a new home requires investing a lot of time and money. So, it only makes sense that you want your completed home to be beautiful as well as practical. The trouble is, that can sometimes be easier said than done. This is especially true when trying to design a luxurious, spa-like bathroom without breaking the bank. The good news? It doesn’t have to be so difficult! To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of seven easy tips for designing the perfect bathroom. Check them out below!

SELECT THE IDEAL VANITY

The great thing about vanities is they can be adjusted to fit the height of the person using them. For shorter people, we recommend installing a vanity ranging from 30-32 inches tall. Taller people will find vanities at a height of 34-42 inches to be better suited to them. In addition to vanity height, consider the type of storage you’ll need. Include space to store things like blow dryers, curling irons, and electric razors. For added convenience, install outlets at the back of vanities to keep unsightly cords tucked away.

INCLUDE VERTICAL STORAGE

There’s only so much room available below your sink. To ensure you don’t run out of storage space, add verticle storage above the vanity top. Not only does this create more storage space, but it also breaks up long vanities and adds a little visual interest to a traditional bathroom design.

INCORPORATE SELF-STANDING ADDITIONS

In addition to adding verticle storage, you can also incorporate furniture for extra storage. Think about adding a self-standing cabinet to hold a hamper or a ladder shelf to hold towels. Just make sure whatever you choose fits the aesthetic of your bathroom design!

ADD SPECIFIC STORAGE

Getting specific with where things are stored can make your bathroom design much more functional. If there isn’t enough room to install a towel bar to hold towels or bathrooms, add hooks instead. Larger items like bedding or toilet paper can be designated to the linen cabinet, while the medicine cabinet can be used to store smaller items.

LEAVE ROOM FOR DISPLAYING DECOR

Decor is a great way to add finishing touches to your bathroom design. Consider adding a recessed niche in the wall or incorporate cabinets or open shelving to display decor. This helps to create a warm, welcoming environment and encourages relaxation.

MAKE THE MOST OF LIMITED SPACE

Not everyone has a large bathroom to work with. If that’s the case, make the most of the space you do have by utilizing structures like doors and walls to add valuable storage. Adding a large mirror will also help a small bathroom appear much larger.

AVOID CHAOS

Designing your ideal bathroom may come with some challenges. Employing the expertise of an interior designer may be the solution you need to create a stunning, yet functional bathroom design.
