SENIOR RESIDENTIAL DRAFTER

POSITION SUMMARY:
Participate in the daily output of the drafting team with a primary focus on the accurate and consistent drafting of new House Plans, Site-Specific Construction Plans, & Site Plans.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
•    Perform (or assign) the daily output of the Drafting Team under the direction of the VP of Drafting.
•    Ensure standards, processes, and procedures are followed for accurate and efficient team deliverables. (Includes maintaining drafting aid documentation and CAD library)
•    Create a weekly schedule for Site-Specific Plan projects according to the dig schedule and ensure that it’s met.
•    Create (or assign) a Site-Specific Plan for each project by making modifications to a Base Plan according to the design option sheets.
•    Create (or assign) a Site Plan for each project.
•    Create (or assign) a REScheck for each project.
•    Review all Site-Specific Plans and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness. Ensure that any necessary corrections are made.
•    Coordinate (or assign) the structural engineering of the Site-Specific Plans with the structural engineer.
•    Upload (or assign) finished projects to Dropbox per company needs.
•    Complete (or assign) the printing of Site-Specific Stamped Plans and documentation weekly.
•    Assist other members of the Drafting Team as necessary to ensure all deadlines are met.
•    Understand and stay up to date on building codes and local municipality requirements.
•    Report on individual output to the VP of Drafting on a weekly basis.
•    Accompany the VP of Drafting on field inspections as necessary.
•    Resolve problems and concerns, as they arise, in a timely manner.
•    Approve / sign invoices as necessary.

Qualities Needed to Be Successful:
•    Proficient knowledge of general construction techniques in production home building.
•    Proficient knowledge of architectural standards and building codes. (IRC, IECC, IBC, etc)
•    Proficient knowledge of municipality ordinances and codes.
•    Proficient in AutoCAD. Also helpful to have a general knowledge of other drafting software.
•    Ability to follow team processes for the accurate, efficient, and consistent creation of Drafting Team deliverables.
•    Ability to visualize building components three dimensionally and represent them clearly on the construction plans to make efficient and consistent construction possible.
•    Ability to foresee potential construction issues and correct them at the drafting stage.
•    Ability to read, understand, and modify construction documents. (inc. Building Plans, Marketing Plans, Community Plats, Site Plans, RESchecks, etc.)
•    Above average organization and attention to detail.
•    Ability to be held accountable for work.
•    Ability to take guidance / direction from the VP of Drafting.
•    Computer skills: Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams), Dropbox, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Asana, Sketchup, REScheck
•    Above average communication skills (both verbal and written).
•    Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work well individually as well as with others in a team atmosphere.
