Summer is in full swing and that means it’s time take in some of the great events in and around Ogden this July. Of course, Pioneer Day is this month and that means there are all kinds of fun activities for the whole family to participate in. In addition to the Pioneer Day activities there are also events like the Utah Youth Rodeo, Science in the Park and a Pops concert at Weber State University.

Science in the Parks is an interactive outreach program designed for children of all ages, especially preschool through middle school, as well as their families. The free program visits six parks each summer in the Ogden area, in conjunction with Ogden School District’s free summer lunch program. Each week we visit a different park, and each day of the week we present a different collection of interactive, playful, and fun science activities.
38th Annual Lindquist Pops Concert
When: July 17th, 2016
Where: Weber State University
The New American Philharmonic will provide a free 60-minute concert beginning at 9 p.m. at the Ada Lindquist Plaza. The performance will include a movie and patriotic music, featuring Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” complete with a battery of 17 cannons.
At approximately 10 p.m., attendees will enjoy one of the largest fireworks displays in Utah, accompanied by the symphony.

Where: Washington Boulevard, 30th Street to 20th Street
The commemoration of Utah’s statehood starts with Ogden Pioneer Days’ Grand Parade, which runs through the heart of Ogden City. The parade route begins on 31st Street, continues northbound on Washington Boulevard and ends on 20th Street. Thousands of spectators line up along Washington Boulevard to cheer for marching bands, service organizations, student body representatives from Ogden-area schools, floats, horse drawn carriages, antique automobiles, and youth dance groups. There’s literally something for everybody.
